MUWAJI LAW

An indigenous mother’s lonely cry for her daughter’s life has been greatly multiplied for the past few months thanks to people like you. Thousands of expressions of support to the bill came in from many parts of Brazil and the world. In at least ten cities the people came to the streets to display support to the indigenous children cause. Janete Pietá, (the deputy responsible to present the bill) who until then had been omissive was forced to acknowledge the importance of this issue and move on with the process. She proposed a substitutive to the original text.

The Human and Minorities Rights Commission unanimously approved a public audience to debate the theme of the documentary “Hakani” which will probably happen next October when the bill will also be voted by the same Commission which has to decide the best option: the original document, the substitutive, or a new option with new adjustments.
